In just about 30 days, our community will decide what kind of future we want — hopefully one shaped by vision, accountability, and real solutions. I’m running for City Council because it’s time we stop reacting to problems and start planning for what’s possible.
This campaign is about putting people first — not politics. It’s about investing wisely, listening closely, and making sure our city works for everyone, not just a few. It’s time for leadership that’s transparent, responsive, and unafraid to ask hard questions or take bold steps when needed.
Over the days leading up to the election, I’ll be out in our town — knocking on doors, attending community events, and having honest conversations with the people of Mountain Home. I want to hear what matters to you, share my vision for our community, and work together to move our city forward with purpose.
Follow me on Facebook for updates throughout this election season as we work together to shape the future of Mountain Home.

I worked in the Department of Health and Welfare in the division of family and Community Services. I worked in the office of the State Board of Education as the state Project Director for the Gear Up program and for a short period as the interim Chief Academic Officer for the state of Idaho. With the Garrett program was moved to the Department of Education I served as the senior project manager for the gear up Grant Program. I also served 4 years with the Department of Correction as a grant and contracts officer.

I appreciate your consideration of me as your next City Councilman and hope that you can entrust me to do all that I can to positively serve the citizens of Mountain Home.

Sawyer Crenshaw

I promise you this: It is unlikely that we will agree 100% of the time, but as your representative and your neighbor, I will never leave you guessing why I make the decisions I make.

Thank you,

-Sawyer

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE RAILROAD PARK PROJECT

City Facebook post dated June 23, 2025, stated breaking ground in summer 2025! (Photo below) Mountain Home Newspaper dated July 16, 2025, stated that after three years of planning, a project aimed at revitalizing Railroad Park is preparing to move forward this month as work begins to renovate the community place.  A five-million-dollar project, URA (Urban Renewal Agency) representative Randy Valley states the local agency committed $2.8 million to start the first phase of the project.  This is scheduled to wrap up by December. (photos below) But on Mondays with the mayor, August 18, 2025 (link below starts at 10:50 min), Mayor Rich Sykes stated the budget came back with issues and is behind schedule (what budget), and the city is looking for potential donors. URA Randy Valley stated the cost for the project doesn’t come from the city.  Sykes stated that the project is now delayed until early spring 2026.  Not to mention the cost to taxpayers once completed for maintaining Railroad Park. (see below) Go from no expense but mowing to $70,000.00 a year for maintenance.
Now, tonight’s City Council Consent Agenda is to approve the general maximum price for the Railroad Park project and authorize GUHO Corp, based in Eagle, to proceed with the project.  Copy of Mountain Home Railroad Park Budget from the packet below.  Total project $4,946,794, where’s the other $2,146,794? Coming from?  Also, notice under vendor on the budget, when City of Mountain Home is listed, there are no dollar amounts. WHY?  Is Mayor Rich Sykes planning to use other budget line items to pay these expenses, like he did with Fiber/Lid1?
