Water rights snake river elmore county pipeline

Mayor Richard Sykes declines city involvement.

  • Documentation shows how over the past few years County Commissioners have reached out to the City of Mountain Home, ID, only to keep hearing NOT INTERESTED. Mayor Richard Sykes responded with a letter stateing the city doesn't want anything to do with the project. (attached) Council wrote in a separate letter to county they were in support(attached). Mayor Richard Sykes Mountain Home has lost TWO opportunities for any Snake River Water rights. The first of which was the Airbase pipeline and now the County's.
  • Was this wise? Is it because Mayor Richard Sykes has said many times that Mountain Home has "Water Rights" that we will not run into any shortages. While the city may have rights to water under the city, the County is working on the recharge of the aquifers. What happens when the city sucks all the water out of the aquifer?  In the PDF attachment the mayor declines access to Snake River water rights. The City Council signed a separate letter supporting the project.
  • Attached copy of email stating mayor will not sign any documents with city council. (attached link).
